From Challenge to Opportunity

Two years ago, Xinda Transformer, like many in the competitive transformer industry, faced the pressing need to innovate but lacked clear direction. The turning point came in 2022 with Liaocheng’s launch of a dynamic patent navigation system. This program conducts panoramic patent analyses across key local industries, providing companies like Xinda with a roadmap for innovation.

“Through professional databases and search methods, we provide customized patent information services to help enterprises understand the latest R&D directions and avoid patent infringement risks,” explained Mr. Feng Zhimin, Section Chief of the Liaocheng Intellectual Property Development Center.

Charting a Course with Patent Intelligence

The patent navigation analysis served as a compass for Xinda, revealing that core technologies for intelligent transformers focused on four key areas: condition monitoring, fault diagnosis, intelligent regulation, and energy efficiency optimization.

“We combined our own strengths to focus on developing cost-effective, intelligent, and highly energy-efficient adaptable transformers,” said Mr. Zheng Qingliang, Head of the Technology Department. “This guides our transition from traditional manufacturing to ‘intelligent manufacturing + remote operation and maintenance,’ with research focused on energy savings, short-circuit resistance, and cooling.”

Precision R&D and Tangible Results

The most significant benefit has been precision in research and development. By analyzing global patent landscapes, Xinda avoided redundant R&D and channeled its investment into breakthrough technologies. The R&D team tackled key challenges in areas like heat dissipation and energy consumption control.

“Our products developed through patent navigation are Class 1 energy efficiency rated,” stated Ms. Wang Changying, Vice General Manager of Xinda Transformer. “They utilize a new heat dissipation device that reduces operating temperature by 15%, lowering user operational costs by 35%.”

This innovation directly fuels growth. In the production workshop, workers are busy assembling these new energy-saving transformers, destined for markets in the Middle East. Supported by its new patents, the company has seen overseas orders increase by over 20% year-on-year.

“Currently, we have over 20 orders for high-voltage products in hand, with sales revenue reaching 36 million RMB. Orders for the second half of the year are expected to exceed 50 million RMB,” added Mr. Meng Guangxiang, Head of the Production Technology Department.

A Model for Industrial Transformation

Xinda’s journey exemplifies how patent navigation can unlock transformation. It demonstrates how strategic intellectual property guidance can help even small and medium-sized enterprises access vast new markets.

Looking ahead, Xinda plans to deepen its innovative path. “Next, we will continue to innovate, aiming to build a demonstration base for integrated solar-storage intelligent transformers,” said Vice General Manager Wang Changying. “We will use patent navigation to extend our industrial chain, attracting upstream and downstream partners in sensors and big data analytics for deeper collaboration, providing strong support for breakthroughs in intelligent transformer manufacturing technology.”
